Web site debut

We have just finished a slick, curator-and-gallery-friendly Web site in hopes that it will bring us at least a few inches closer to fame and fortune. We are hoping to attract the attention of Saatchi but don't worry. If we ever meet him, we'll bring tear gas spray and handcuffs. His is, after all, a violent man.

But where were we and how did we stray so quickly to the subject of drug addict art mafiosos? You won't make any friends that way, Mr. Sevigny. You'd better get right with God and fly straight. Enough. Back to the Web site.

There are still things to be tweaked, filed down, polished, peeled, and sewn up, but for the most part, it's done. Some cool features worth mentioning:

Because static, online portfolios are so boring (after you visit once, why visit again?), the new Sevigny site features a page called Sketchbook, where new pictures will be posted and swapped out regularly. There's also a mini-blog-thing where I'll write about ... well, I'm sure I'll think of something. We're calling that page Journal. For now.

You can also see my selection of photographs called Dark Arts, which is growing by the day and will probably be finished when sea levels have risen high enough to swamp every art-savvy city on every coast in every nation on the planet.

All in all, the new site smells like it just rolled off the lot, a pleasing combination of your new vinyl and your favorite air freshener. The old site, meanwhile, will be up for a while before being cremated and scattered to the sea during a solemn and respectful ceremony attended by a few dear friends. On a rainy day. On a stony coast in New England. But we can work out those details later.

The Gone City blog will always exist. When I've cast off this mortal coil and taken my place among the angels, shifty looking friends of mine will continue to post on my behalf. But again, we can work that out later.

In the meantime, enjoy the new site. Share it with your neighbors, that is, if you know your neighbors. If you don't, you should go introduce yourself. Be good.

Be a neighbor to your neighbors.
