The Unknown Homie: pieces of a work in progress

Theses are photographs I took of forensic Polaroids at a public morgue in El Salvador. Each shows the body of a Salvadoran gang member that was never claimed by friends or family and never identified. All ended up in anonymous graves. I'll be using these images in an installation and exhibition focusing on death rituals later this year. In the meantime, they are sad, disturbing, violent pictures of people, who no matter what they did, didn't deserve abandonment in death.
